Women's Health

Acupuncture and herbal medicine have been used for thousands of years to correct imbalances women experience through all stages of life. These imbalances include menstrual disorders, heavy periods and uterine bleeding, fibroids, PCOS, pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis, fibrocystic breasts, migraines, hormonal imbalances, menopause, and infertility.

Acupuncture and Fertility

Whether you are trying to have your first child or your third, facing infertility is stressful and emotionally heartbreaking. Chinese Medicine is an ancient method of treatment that involves treating the mind and body as a whole. By using acupuncture, natural herbs, dietary changes and supplements, the body is able to regain balance and become fertile again. Chinese Medicine can support the body regardless of which path you are taking, whether it be natural, IUI or IVF, or donor eggs.

Acupuncture and Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART)

Traditional Chinese Medicine can help give you the best chance for pregnancy and reduce complications when undergoing Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART). Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can enhance Western reproductive procedures in the following areas:
  • Produce higher quality eggs
  • Produce more follicles
  • Increase thickness of the uterine lining
  • Regulate hormone levels
  • Reduce side-effects of IVF medications
  • Prevent uterine contractions
  • Improve sperm count, motility, and morphology
  • Reduce stress and anxiety
  • Decrease chances of miscarriage
  • Strengthen and regulate the immune system
Research has shown an increase in success rates when using acupuncture and herbs in conjunction with ART. Acupuncture also lowers the rates of miscarriage associated with ART. If you are planning on using an ART procedure, acupuncture should be done 1-2 times per week for three months prior. Customized herbal medicine may be prescribed, as well as dietary and lifestyle changes. If you are undergoing in-vitro fertilization, a pre and post-transfer acupuncture session is highly recommended as well as weekly treatments throughout the cycle.
